- Not much outside work this weekend. Watered the peas and refilled the water barrel. Think I saw some of the white beans sprouting up. Rained yesterday and today (finally).
- Trying out making potting soil from compost. Needed to come up with a way to get rid of the bugs. So, after sifting it using the milk crate, I flooded the compost overnight. This killed the bugs and allowed me to skim off any uncomposted vegetation. Then drain and dry and ready to go.
- The drought has me wondering about alternate water supplies. A shallow well wouldn’t be good for potable water but would allow me to water the garden. A coworker put one in by using water and a pump to drill down. Won’t be able to do this year, but will have to add it to the to do list for next year.
