7/15/12 – 12th of Middle Summer

Hauled about 50 gallons of water to the legume patch today. Seems like a lot, but I doubt that I really watered them that well. No beans on the Half Runners but they are setting flowers again. Harvested a handful of dried pods on the Dwarf Horticultural. Not many of the soybeans survived. Those that did have a pretty good amount of pods on them. I will let them go to seed for next year. Both the peanuts and cowpeas are doing well, however neither have started blooming yet. Harvested several of the Mated Chief ears. Much too early for them. Just worried that the bugs and diseases will leave me with no seeds at all. Something odd though. All of the ears are white with an occasional blue or yellow kernel. Need to make sure what I planted was the right variety. Just a handful of Romas today. Filled about a third of the bag with Cherry tomatoes. The chickens really like the cull tomatoes. Only one hen acting broody today yet there were only two eggs.
